Biggest Holiday Shopping Day in Company History as Shoppers Buy Online to Beat Crowds
WASHINGTON, Dec. 3—While in-store retail sales were lackluster this holiday shopping weekend, LivingSocial today announced it posted record sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday with consumers heading to the site to kick off the holiday shopping season. Great offers drove huge sales across North America for LivingSocial with a 57 percent net increase in Black Friday sales from the previous year and a 69 percent net increase in Cyber Monday sales making it the biggest shopping day in the company’s history. Mobile proved to be another big driver for LivingSocial’s Cyber Monday sales with a 40 percent increase in mobile revenue over 2012.
To celebrate, LivingSocial is extending its 25 percent off Cyber Monday promo through midnight PST tonight to help North American consumers save even more money.
“Shoppers are fully taking advantage of our expanded inventory, unbeatable deals, and online gifting to not only avoid the crowds, but to purchase experiential gifts like trips and events that take holiday gifting to a new level,” said Tim O’Shaughnessy, CEO at LivingSocial. “We have also seen that not only are our members saving money themselves, they are sharing our codes and coupons which has proven to be a real driver for us and a great way for LivingSocial shoppers to save. Whether it is a great item to put under the tree or an exciting trip for 2014, shoppers are flocking to LivingSocial for holiday gifts.”
Just in time for the holidays, LivingSocial recently launched their Good Deal Guarantee which provides consumers with extra security when shopping during the holidays. The Good Deal Guarantee offers LivingSocial customers more time to receive refunds when making returns, making it easier for consumers and merchants to get great value from their LivingSocial experience.
