DIRECTV’s Paul Guyardo Joins LivingSocial’s Board of Directors

Seasoned executive brings extensive experience in driving profitable growth and revitalizing brands as well as deep knowledge of retail and mobile industries

WASHINGTON, June 29, 2015 — LivingSocial, the local marketplace to buy and share the best things to do in your city and beyond, today announced that Paul Guyardo has joined the Company’s board of directors. He currently is the executive vice president and chief revenue and marketing officer at DIRECTV, the world’s leading provider of television entertainment services.

Guyardo has more than 30 years of experience in sales, marketing and advertising, and is an expert in fueling growth and revitalizing brands. At DIRECTV, he is responsible for all functions that drive the company’s $26 billion in annual U.S. revenue, including all sales and distribution channels, marketing, advertising, pricing & packaging, customer retention, ad sales,, sports, premium movie channels, product management and public relations. Since he joined the company in 2005, Guyardo and his team have successfully grown the DIRECTV U.S. subscriber base from 15.1 million to 20.4 million customers, and increased revenue and profit from $12.2B and $1.5B in 2005 to $26B and $6.5B in 2014, respectively.

Prior to DIRECTV, Guyardo held executive positions at Kmart Corporation (now Sears Holding Company) and HSN (formerly Home Shopping Network). He began his career in advertising and brand management holding positions at Johnson & Johnson, Saatchi & Saatchi and Tracy-Locke/BBDO working on major brands including Tide, Ivory, Taco Bell and LAY’S Potato Chips.

Guyardo holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northwestern University. He serves on the National Advisory Council for Northwestern University and on Nutrisystem’s board of directors, and is an executive mentor for the New York and New Jersey All-Stars Project.
