Nick Macey brings strong mobile and product development experience
WASHINGTON, August 18, 2015 — LivingSocial, the local marketplace to buy and share the best experiences in your city and beyond, today announced the appointment of Nick Macey as Senior Vice President and Head of Product. Macey will report to President and CEO Gautam Thakar.
“This newly created role on the senior team re-emphasizes our commitment to product and technology as key drivers of our growth at this pivotal time in our refounding journey,” said Thakar. “In addition to leading the product team to optimize customer experience for our existing platform, Nick also will spearhead our new initiatives to spur product innovation and accelerate our move toward becoming an experiences marketplace. Nick is a strong addition to our executive team and to the business as whole.”
Prior to LivingSocial, Macey served as Chief Product Officer at Rosetta Stone, where he oversaw the expansion of its product portfolio beyond language learning, with a focus on premium, personalized learning products. These products garnered millions of downloads and won multiple awards for best smartphone and tablet applications. He joined Rosetta Stone in 2013, initially serving as Vice President of Product Management.

Earlier, Macey worked as a management consultant, helping Fortune 500 clients address product strategy and development challenges. He has held leadership roles at Sagence Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Diamond Management & Technology Consultants, where his clients included PayPal, Comcast XFINITY, Allstate, Greyhound and National Express. He began his career as a web technologist at Razorfish.
Macey serves as a judge for the Tabby Awards, and previously was on the board of the Vest Pocket Business Coalition, a small business advocacy organization in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Utah, where he serves as a coach for the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge.
